What to expect
With the opening month of the season having now been and gone, Geelong have surprisingly emerged as the in-form team of the competition.
Before their four-point loss to the Giants last week, the Cats were undefeated this season with impressive wins over Collingwood, Melbourne and Adelaide.
They clearly have the best percentage in the league, having scored the second-most points in the league while conceding the second-least.
The Cats’ offensive strength has come in the form of their many avenues towards goal.
Geelong has five players who have kicked at least five goals so far this year - Brisbane are the only side that trumps them in this area with six.
Despite this potent scoring power, the Cats rank a lowly 16th for inside 50s per game, averaging less than 50 per game.
But Chris Scott’s side looks after the footy and their elite efficiency going inside 50 will certainly be something Hawthorn will be keen to quell on Easter Monday.
Player to watch
Patrick Dangerfield is the only player in the league who is averaging over 28 disposals, six inside 50s and a goal per game. It is symbolic of the impact the 2016 Brownlow Medallist has in the front half of the ground and the uniqueness of his talents. Since arriving at the Cats in 2016, Easter Monday has been one of the midfielder’s favourite stages, averaging just shy of 34 possessions over his three outings.
