The third season of the AFLW competition is set to begin on Saturday, with eight VFLW Hawthorn players selected across the five games.
Premiership players Mikala Cann (Collingwood), Jayde Van Dyk (Carlton) and Emerson Woods (Carlton) are set to make their league debuts, joining five Hawks teammates in running out this weekend.
Julia Crockett-Grills and Phoebe McWilliams will represent new comers Geelong in the competition’s season opener against Collingwood, while GWS pair Pepa Randall and Rebecca Beeson will look to get the Giants off to a strong start against Brisbane on Saturday evening.
Hawks premiership captain Emma Mackie will return for her second season at the Western Bulldogs, where she played three games in 2018.
Mel Kuys (Collingwood) and Sarah Perkins (Adelaide) are the remaining premiership Hawks to hold a spot on AFLW lists this year.
