Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd believes defender Tim Mohr will miss a “large chunk” of football following his injury in a practice match with Box Hill on Sunday.
Mohr suffered a dislocated knee in the opening minutes of the hit-out with the Casey Demons and was immediately taken to hospital.
Boyd said the former Giant has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
“Unfortunately, he has had significant damage around that knee,” Boyd said.
“He is booked in for surgery today and at this stage he is going to miss a large chunk of football.
“We will keep you updated in the coming weeks on how he is going.”

In more positive news, fellow recruit Chad Wingard is nearing a return to the field after an injury-interrupted pre-season due to a calf injury.
“It’s going really well, and it has pulled up really well after the two hits I had last week,” Wingard said of his calf.
“So, this week is back to training with the main group on Tuesday and Thursday again.
“It’s tracking along nicely and hopefully I’ll get out there as soon as I can.”
