What to expect
A look at the Tigers’ scoring in wins in comparison to losses this season gives an insight into how Damien Hardwick’s side want their games played.
In its five wins this year, Richmond have averaged 96.2 points per game, while in the three losses it has managed to score 64.7 points.
Plainly, the Tigers aren’t afraid of a shootout – but, when their games have become more of a low-scoring grind this year, problems seem to emerge for the 2017 premiers.
The Tigers preferred mode of ball movement can also be reflected in this, ranking 17th for disposals, 15th for marks, 17th for contested possessions and 18th for clearances.
They don’t look to overpossess the footy, nor create stoppage after stoppage; they want the ball on the move and allow their frantic pressure to overwhelm opposition sides.
Player to watch
As injury has made its mark on the Richmond line-up so far in 2019, Dion Prestia is one Tiger who has stood up in the absence of his teammates.
One of just eight Tigers to have played every game so far this year, Prestia is leading the way for his side, having recorded more disposals, contested possessions, inside 50s, clearances and tackles than any other Tiger.
If the Hawks can quell Prestia on Sunday, they will be hindering Richmond’s key source of midfield production.
