They say change can be as good as a holiday and that seems to be the case for Georgia Bevan.
Bevan, who is from South Australia, moved her life temporarily to Melbourne to pursue her football career with Hawthorn.
The 27-year-old played for the Northern Territory Thunder in 2018, however after chats with former Adelaide Crows AFLW premiership teammates Sarah Perkins and Talia Radan who both play at Hawthorn, Bevan decided to make the move.
It’s a move that’s benefitted both parties as Bevan has been in outstanding form at her new club.

In her five games this season the inside-mid has been named in the best four times and averages 17 disposals and eight tackles a game.
Bevan credits her form to the club’s game plan and an environment where she feels under less stress.
“I think probably my second AFLW season and then a bit into NT Thunder I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to change my style,” Bevan told radio show VFL Rewind.
“I think Hawks really allows me to play my own brand of football and focusses on my strengths and the game plan is very similar to how I have grown up playing football.”
“It’s been nice to just relax and enjoy my footy again.”
Part of her new environment includes playing under premiership coach Paddy Hill who she describes as having “exceptional” communication skills.
“I find when you’re in the same state, going through the same programs, you get a similar sort of wrap up of how to play footy, so it’s be fantastic to get someone like Paddy who’s extremely experienced.
“He has a really simplistic way of conveying some pretty complex structures - I basically had a week of training and was able to slip into the team.”
When asked which of her new teammates have impressed her, Bevan named two players who often fly under the radar.
“Rosie Dillon is a big one.
“I hadn’t heard much about her but she’s just an outstanding midfielder. Any AFLW list would be happy to have her.
The second player to stand out to Bevan is captain Tamara Luke.
“She just flies at the footy. She’s a really big body and presence down there, she always impresses me.”
Bevan and the Hawks will play Melbourne University this weekend at Main Oval on Sunday afternoon with the game starting at 2.30pm.
