It's mostly rosy for the Lions with no setbacks from the weekend and the return of Nick Robertson, Tom Fullarton and Connor McFadyenthrough a NEAFL practise match. The one setback on the list is the regression of Western Bulldogs recruit Adams who is still a month away from a return. Last week the club assessed him as two weeks away, but Adams is still struggling following surgery. - Michael Whiting |

If there was any good news out of Essendon's shocking start to the season it was that the club appeared to get through its loss to Greater Western Sydney unscathed. Martin Gleeson made a long awaited comeback from his ankle injury last year in the VFL on the weekend and played 60 per cent game time, while Mason Redman, also back from an ankle injury, returned to the field as well but is unlikely to push for senior selection just yet. Stringer hurt his foot in the final moments of Sunday's loss but has been cleared of structural damage. - Callum Twomey |

Guthrie will need to prove he's over a minor calf complaint that ruled him out of the season-opener against Collingwood. While Tuohy appears more unlikely than likely, he'll be putting up his hand to play. Cockatoo continues to be a week-by-week proposition, with coach Chris Scott saying the Cats will be extra cautious with his return. Selwood has resumed running, but due to the recurring injury his return date will be pushed back from a standard hamstring. Bews is pushing for game time in the VFL this week. - Mitch Cleary |

The Giants hope to have Kelly and Nick Haynes (back) for this week's clash with Wester Coast. Kelly trained well on Sunday and Haynes got through three quarters in the reserves. Wingard said last week he was hopeful of a round two return to football. The question is whether the coach decides he should have a run in the VFL to gain some match fitness before a senior debut. Fellow recruit Scully is edging closer to a return. Dan Howe continues to progress well from a hip complaint and played half a game in the VFL at the weekend, but he will likely have another match at that level before being considered for senior selection. Defender Mohr is the latest casualty, suffering a horrific knee dislocation in a VFL practice match which stopped the game for 45 minutes. - Nat Edwards |
