Hawthorn Football Club and the Tasmanian Government will join forces in 2019 to help improve the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.
The new partnership was announced today as part of the club’s annual community camp in Tasmania.
The partnership aims to provide the Tasmanian community with the information and tools to make positive and healthy changes in their lives.
Hawthorn will work collaboratively with the Tasmanian Government, leveraging its long-standing relationship with Tassie to promote the Healthy Tasmania strategy.
The partnership will also seek to leverage Hawthorn’s pre-existing commitment to affecting positive change in the area of mental health, something which remains a key focus for the DOH.
Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves said Hawthorn remains committed to ensuring its partnership with the Tasmanian government has a positive impact on the community.
“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to the long-term health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community,” Reeves said.
“The focus of our partnership with Tasmania has always been about more than football and this partnership provides a fantastic opportunity for Hawthorn to have a genuine and meaningful impact on the Tasmanian community.
“With our Looking After ME program already widely embedded across the state, we will now work closely with the Department of Health to ensure it aligns and supports their Healthy Tasmania strategy.”
