Box Hill is set to wrap up its pre-season when it takes on Werribee on Saturday.

The Hawks will look to bounce back from last week’s 11-point defeat to Casey, and embark on their premiership-defending home and away campaign in winning form.

Despite leading at half time, Box Hill was overrun by a Casey side out to amend last years VFL Grand Final defeat. The Demons generated 11 more scoring shots than the Hawks, with their second-half scoring ascendency proving the catalyst for the victory.

The match was marred by a severe leg injury to new Hawthorn recruit Tim Mohr, who dislocated his knee in the opening minutes of the match.  Mohr underwent ACL and PCL surgery on Tuesday.

This week will instead provide an opportunity for emerging Hawthorn defenders Kaiden Brand, Tim O’Brien and Jacob Koschitzke to step up and fill the unfortunate key position void left by Mohr.

Teia Miles produced a best on ground performance at Casey Fields last week, with the small defender impressing coaches with his reading of the play and ball use of halfback.

Dylan Moore and Mitch Lewis were the shining lights forward, and along with Miles, will look to continue their flawless pre-season on Saturday and put their case forward for senior selection.

Werribee boasts a strong record against Box Hill after defeating them in their two encounters last season. The Tigers produced a stunning result in saluting by 14-points over the Hawks in Round 19 last season, despite missing the finals action altogether.

The Hawks will be aiming to conclude their pre-season with a 2-2 win record when they take on Werribee at 2pm on Saturday at Avalon Airport Oval.
