Hawthorn and St Kilda will be playing for the annual Blue Ribbon Cup in their clash on Saturday night.
The game will honour the 20th anniversary of the passing of two Victorian Police Officers, Sergeant Gary Silk and Senior Constable Rodney Miller, who were killed in the line of duty in August 1998.
The Hawks and Saints will meet at Etihad Stadium at 7:25pm Saturday night, in what will be the 19th year the traditional match has been played between the clubs.
As a sign of respect to all the Victorian Police officers who have been killed in the line of duty, players and on-field officials will wear blue and white checkered armbands, with the goal umpires to wave specially made Blue Ribbon Foundation flags.
All competing players will be issued a commemorative Blue Ribbon medal at the conclusion of the match. The player voted best on ground from each team by opposing club presidents will also be presented with the Silk-Miller Medal.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation aims to encourage the public of Victoria to remember the sacrifice of officers who have fallen in the line of duty and to show all serving members of Victoria Police that their work and commitment is valued by a caring community.
