What to expect
After much pre-season hype about St Kilda making a climb up the ladder in 2018, the Saints have ultimately delivered a poor showing this season.
Signs of positives have been few and far between this year for the Saints, but they have managed to create somewhat of a playing style brand that might guide their young list going forward.
Alan Richardson’s side is the number one uncontested possession team in the competition, as they have shown an appetite to spread hard from the contest and own the ball on the outside against their opposition.
The Saints have shown that they can take care of the ball this year, rating fourth for disposal efficiency this season.
Where the young side has fallen down though is where you’d expect young sides to struggle: inside the contest.
The Saints rank 18th for contested possessions and clearances with no player inside the top 20 for either statistic.
They also rank 15th in the competition for tackles.
Player to watch
In a grim year for the Saints that has seen them manage just four wins, Sebastian Ross has been a rare shining light.
Ross has recorded the eighth-most disposals in the competition, averaging 29.7 possessions per game this year.
The 25-year old midfielder is an elite uncontested possession player, with his 20.2 uncontested touches per game ranking equal-fourth in the league.
