As he booted his second goal of the game in Saturday night's loss to the Giants, Jarryd Roughead became just the sixth player in Hawthorn history to kick 550 goals for the club.

Roughead joined the likes of Jason Dunstall (1254 goals), Leigh Matthews (915), Peter Hudson (727), Michael Moncrieff (629) and Lance Franklin (580) as those Hawks to have reached the impressive benchmark.

There have been 44 players across the game’s history to have kicked as many goals as the Hawthorn captain.

But only 18 of these players have played games in the 21st century, highlighting, in this day and age, how accomplished the achievement is.

The 31-year old’s greatest goal kicking season hauls came in the premiership years of 2008 and 2014, when he booted 75 goals in both seasons.

He averaged at least three goals per game across these seasons.

His largest bag of majors in a single game is eight, having recorded it twice: in Round 6 2009 against Carlton and Round 12 2014 against West Coast.

Roughy has kicked five goals or more in a single match on 25 occasions.

Having been drafted alongside him in 2004, Roughead is now 30 goals away from surpassing his mate Buddy Franklin’s goal tally for the Hawks and entering the club’s top five all-time goalkickers.
