Hundreds of excited Tasmanian students had the opportunity to meet their idols on Friday morning, as the Hawks visited schools throughout Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.

Addressing the media, Vice Captain Liam Shiels says its important for the playing group to spend time in the region that provides so much support for the club.

"We all love playing in Tassie so it is important to come down here and do our Community Camp every year and give back to those Hawks fans that come to the games down in Launnie.

The players spent the day implementing the new mental health branch of the club's Looking After ME program, teaching students about positive mental health and resilience.

"We've doing the Looking After ME program, so that's about mental health and controlling emotions and things like that," Shiels said.

"There's a few boys in the classroom at the minutes just running through a few excercises which is great for these young kids."

The playing group will meet back up in Launceston on Friday afternoon, ready for an open training session ahead of Saturday's JLT hit out against the Blues.
