Superstar veteran Shaun Burgoyne is set for another stint on the sidelines, after injuring his hamstring in Hawthorn’s Round 14 win over Gold Coast.
Burgoyne left the ground during the third quarter of the match and didn’t return, with Director of High Performance Andrew Russell confirming the injury is slightly more serious than first thought.
“He’s pulled up pretty well, but the scan that we did yesterday showed that he is probably going to miss around four weeks,” Russell said.
“It’s probably a little bit worse than we first imagined when he came off.
“He had some signs, and we knew he had a low-grade hamstring injury at the time, but the scan suggested it is a little bit worse.”

On a more positive note, versatile forward Jack Gunston is expected to play this weekend despite sustaining a corked calf early in Saturday’s match.
“He did a pretty good job to contribute like he did [after sustaining] that calf corkie in the first minute of the game.
“He’s a little bit sore, [but] we expect him to play.”
Ruckman Jonathon Ceglar is also expected to return after recovering from a corked quad.
