Hawthorn's forward line seemed to rediscover its mojo in the side’s win over Collingwood last Saturday night.
With the quartet of Luke Breust, Jarryd Roughead, Jack Gunston and Cyril Rioli having only played seven games together in the past two seasons, they may have been excused for taking some time to get the dynamic clicking again.
But in the season opener, the foursome, who boast 14 premiership medallions between them, showed little sign of rust as they combined for eight goals.
Speaking to SEN on Thursday, Breust said a strong summer had put the Hawks in good stead to rediscover their best form.
“We had a really good preparation during the pre-season and we have played a hell of a lot of footy together over the last four, five, six seasons,” Breust said.
“That continuity down there is obviously very good in the forward line.
“And now to have strong guys in the midfield like (Jaeger) O’Meara, (Tom) Mitchell, (Isaac) Smith, (Ricky) Henderson kicking the ball into us, it does make a huge difference”.

Ahead of a blockbuster Easter Monday clash against Geelong, Breust said the side had much improvement in it yet, highlighting the youthful Hawks backline as an area that will only continue to improve.
“We still have kids coming through like Kaiden Brand, Blake Hardwick and James Sicily has gone down back and been a revelation down there as well.
“But the more footy they can play, the more comfortable they can get at AFL level.
“And that’s only going to be better for our side”.
