Hawthorn’s ability to bounce back from an interstate loss could hold it in good stead against West Coast this weekend.
Coming off a disappointing 56-point loss to the Lions in Round 9, the Hawks will be hoping to rebound against the Eagles, with their recent history suggesting they’re a strong chance to do so.
In the last five seasons, the Hawks have suffered 10 interstate losses which have been followed by a game held in Melbourne.
Of those return Melbourne games, the Hawks have won 80 per cent, with the only two losses coming against the Cats and the Suns last year after returning from losses to Gold Coast and Port Adelaide respectively.

Looking specifically at returning from the Gabba, the Hawks have suffered six losses to the Lions in Brisbane since 2001 before playing the following week in Melbourne.
Of these, the Hawks still show a good ability to rebound, winning four and losing two.
But something the Hawks have never though is return from a loss at the Gabba and won at Etihad Stadium the following week.
While it certainly won’t be history that decides the winner of this weekend’s Docklands clash, the Hawks certainly have an opportunity to turn it around.
