After 14 seasons at the Hawthorn Football Club, Director of High Performance Andrew Russell’s tenure at the Hawks has come to a close as he takes up a new position with Carlton Football Club effective immediately.
Russell joined Hawthorn in 2005 and has held several positions during his time at Hawthorn, most recently being elevated to the role of Director of High Performance at the end of the 2017 season.
Russell said the Hawks will always mean a great deal to him and his family.
“I feel extremely privileged to have served the players and this great club for the last 14 years,” Russell said.
“I’m grateful to the club in supporting this fresh challenge in my life. My family and I will always value the lifelong friendships and memories we’ve made at Hawthorn, throughout a special period in the club’s history.”
An integral part of four Premierships in his time at the Hawks, GM – Football Graham Wright wished Russell all the best in his next chapter.
“Andrew has had a significant impact on our club. Fourteen years is a long time, particularly in footy, and we are incredibly grateful for the contribution Andrew has made over his time here,” Wright said.
“We would like to thank Andrew and his family for their contribution to our football club and wish them all the best in their next chapter.
“Our medical team led by Dr Michael Makdissi and Andrew Lambert, combined with our strength and conditioning team headed by Luke Boyd and Sean Murphy, have us very well positioned for the future.”
