Hawthorn's VFLW win over Geelong on the weekend capped off an impressive run leading into finals, with the Hawks having faced four of the top six sides over the last month.
Deputy vice-captain Steph Carroll was pleased with the side’s form after they set themselves for what was going to be a challenging month ahead of September.
“It’s been a really good test for us,” Carroll said.
“We knew we just had to keep ticking them off to put ourselves in a good position come finals.
“So, all the hard work that has gone in, having been training since November, it’s amazing to finish the season being 12 wins and two losses.”
Despite Geelong gaining an early lead against the Hawks on Saturday, the side was able to steady the ship, an ability that has been a feature of their game recently.
“I think that has been a real strong point for most of this year and especially the last few weeks.
“If a team gets a run-on, we are pretty confident in our systems that we can get back on top.
“We have some set-plays and some instructions in place for what to do in those scenarios.”
The Hawks’ level-headedness throughout the season is set to hold them in good stead heading into their maiden finals appearance in two weeks.
