Kurt Heatherley

"Kurt had 15 disposals and seven marks. He was pretty solid for us back there. He had five rebound 50s and for a key back that’s a pretty impressive tally. We haven’t got one-percenters numbers at the moment but I imagine they would be very high for Kurt. It was a pretty solid game from him." CN

Dylan Moore

"Dylan Moore had 24 disposals and he worked his way into the game really nicely. He is starting to get a bit of a grasp about what his roles and responsibilities are in the stoppage and around his positioning. He played primarily wing and a little bit of half forward but accumulated quite a bit of possession. He kicked the footy as well, which is good, that is what we want to see from him (15 kicks and 9 handballs). He hit the scoreboard as well with 1.3, so that was a very good return from ‘Moorey’." CN

Jackson Ross

"‘Rossy’ had five disposals. He had a shot at goal but missed it. He took a nice contested mark as well. But I think he was inhibited a little bit, hurting his ankle at one point earlier in the game, but he fought through pretty well. His forward pressure, along with a lot of those other forwards, was quite good. He is a work in progress and he will keep trying to get better." CN

James Worpel 

"Worpel played on-ball and a little bit forward. He is a contested possession, clearance player, strong around stoppage and he just thrives on tackles, which is what you love from an inside mid. Once again, he hit the scoreboard, kicking two goals. That’s one thing we love about ‘Worps’, he can hit the scoreboard when he goes forward. So, he has a couple of positions where he can impact the game." CN

Mitchell Lewis

"Another solid game again. He is looking really solid with his hands and his running patterns. He is pretty agile for a big guy. He had six shots at goal too. So, he really shapes us up and he is continuing his good form from a pretty restricted build-up. He didn’t play many practice matches in the lead up to the season but it looks like he has made some massive improvements over the summer." CN

Harrison Jones

"Harry Jones is another one that played inside-mid and a little bit wing. He also played forward at times. But he just has an uncanny knack of staying connected to the ball and getting a hand or a finger nail in. He is a very good tackler, he had six tackles. For a light frame, he hits the body very hard. He also sets us up with his handballing, more so than his kicking at the moment. He is pretty creative and lively around stoppage." CN

Ollie Hanrahan 

"He got injured mid-way through the second quarter. He was playing forward and we weren’t getting a lot of opportunities in the first quarter. So, he missed the part of the game where we had a bit more dominance. He was pulled out at half time with a bit of back soreness from a crunching tackle he received mid-kick. We will see how he progresses throughout the week but hopefully he is all good." CN

Teia Miles

"Teia Miles has started forward in practice games and spent all pre-season forward. But we just saw an opportunity for him to go back and try to run and create for us. He had 22 disposals and he creates a lot of his ability with the way he plays the game, he draws defenders to him and he can set us up quite well. They had a number behind the ball, so he went forward and equalised that and actually kicked a goal, which was great. It was just before the three-quarter time break so it gave us a bit of momentum." Conor Glass 

"Conor Glass was really impressive. He had 19 disposals and he won or neutralised a lot of contests. He had a really good balance between his offensive and defensive stuff, which he has been trying to learn along the way. So, it was probably one of the more balanced games I have seen from him. And, again, he was quite creative with the ball so he didn’t waste his opportunity when he had it." CN

Conor Nash

"He took the game on. He didn’t hit the scoreboard but he took quite a few good marks on the lead. He used his legs, he just got the ball and ran. I’m not sure how many bounces he had but there was quite a few plays where he could use his fend and use his legs. He is very, very quick for a big unit and with his rugby background. He sort of sees that as one of his main strengths so it was good to see him play with some real confidence." CN

James Cousins 

"Cousins was terrific for us. He had nine inside 50s. We would like him to be a tad cleaner at times with some of his disposal, but the majority of his disposal was pretty good and he finished with 29 and three goals. He spent a little bit of time up forward but that was more of a rotation, spending the bulk of his time on-ball. So that was a great return for a midfielder to have six shots at goal. Six tackles and nine inside 50s as well so it was a high work-rate game from him." CN

Dallas Willsmore

"Dal Willsmore played back. We loved his ratio of kicks to handballs (18 kicks to five handballs), because he is such a good kick. His workrate was quite high as he tried to get handball receives and he set us up going forward. The thing we liked about him too is that he is starting to win more and more of the contests that he is in, which means he will become more and more confident in the back half. So, he will probably flick between wing and half back throughout the year but he spent all of this game playing back."

Brendan Whitecross

"Whitecross was a little bit of a Mr. Fix-it throughout the game. He spent some time on the ball, he spent time on the wing and a bit forward. He just offers that maturity and leadership throughout the game. He had 24 disposals but he set us up quite a bit with his strength around the contest. He is very hard to tackle. So, for a player to be thrown around in three positions and to still get that return from him. That’s a good result from ‘Whitey’." CN

Jonathan O’Rourke 

"He had 29 disposals and he was really, really good around the stoppage, which was their main strength. Williamstown thrive on stoppage and contested ball. So it was really important for on-ballers to get their hands on the ball and we certainly did that. He was often our secondary receiver from the stoppage so his workrate was quite high and he pushed himself quite hard. He also kicked a goal so, again, another midfielder hitting the scoreboard." CN

Marc Pittonet

"‘Pitto’ had 16 disposals, which is pretty high for him. But we shouldn’t expect too much less, he has quite a good tank and he can cover the ground well. So, if he can connect like that for us that will be a big bonus for us going forward. Five hard-ball gets for him as well so his follow-up work around stoppage was terrific and he really gave our mids a great chance." CN

Kieran Lovell

"He had 16 disposals and kicked one behind, so probably not the most impressive stat-line but he had a lot of disposals inside 50 and was really composed in there and set us up a lot. He’s at his best when he takes the game on, I haven’t seen a guy with a step like him. He was actually quite clinical when he had the ball and he didn’t waste an opportunity. He played on-ball and a little bit forward, where his connection for us was pretty important." CN

David Mirra 

"He had a bit of an interrupted preparation as he was the emergency for the senior side. So, I think he left the MCG at 1:10 when the ball bounced for their game, jumped straight in the car and headed to Williamstown. He had 20 disposals so for him to overcome that and perform the way he did was outstanding. He’s very, very strong in the marking contests and he backs himself to win the ball one-on-one. He gave away a few free kicks which was frustrating for him but that’s just the way he plays. He was quite strong on the day." CN
