Jarman Impey has become a different player since crossing to Hawthorn in last year’s trade period.

The streaks of brilliance he showed as a Port Adelaide player, have now become a much more consistent sighting under new coach Alastair Clarkson’s tutelage in 2018.

Impey is averaging career-highs almost wherever you look on the stats sheet in his first six games as a Hawk.

His average disposals (16.8 per game), tackles (four), inside 50s (3.8), clearances (2.5) and contested possessions (6.8) are all marks previously undiscovered in his four seasons at Alberton.

Of his 20 games for Port in 2017, he collected 15 or more disposals in just four games including just one such game of his final 14 as a Power player.

In his first six games in a brown and gold jumper, Impey has fallen below 15 disposals on just one occasion, last week against St Kilda.

His 23-possession performance in the win over Melbourne in Round 4 registered a new career-best disposal tally, highlighted by a personal best 13 contested possessions and six clearances.

The 22-year old’s injection of speed and skill into the Hawks rotation has quickly proved a valuable addition.

This week, Impey sets his sights on an Essendon side who, at their best, like to move the ball at pace, especially on a ground like the MCG.

Speaking to Fox Sports a fortnight ago, Impey said he relished playing every game of the opening month of the season at the MCG.

“I’m absolutely loving (playing at the MCG), I’ve got the space,” Impey said.

“The boys have just been magnificent and so good to play with, so I’m just trying to play my role.”
