We take a look at the history of the rivalry between Hawthorn and GWS…

• Hawthorn and GWS have met on six occasions since the Giants’ inception into the league in 2012

• The Hawks currently own the slight ascendancy in the match-up with three wins, one draw and two losses

• The two clubs’ first clash saw the Hawks win by 162 points in Round 15, 2012 at the MCG

• To this day, the Hawks score of 28.25 (193) in that clash is the highest score that the Giants have ever conceded

• And to highlight just how bad a day it was for the Giants, their score of 4.7 (31) is the lowest score they have recorded in their seven-year history

• The Hawks won the first three games between the two sides by an average of 84 points

• The two sides are yet to meet in a final

• Three of these sides’ last four meetings have been decided by 10 points or less including the draw in Round 16 last year

• Over their six-game history, 13 different players have received Brownlow votes: club captains Callan Ward (in three games for eight votes) and Jarryd Roughead (twice for five votes) lead the way in these stakes

• The two games that the Hawks have lost to the Giants were the only two times they have met at Spotless Stadium, meaning if they were to win this Saturday night it would be the first time the Hawks have beaten the Giants in New South Wales.
