We're going through the alphabet one letter at a time categorising our Hawthorn players by not just their talent, but their surname too.

We have considered premierships, accolades, and the number of games played, to come up with a select and prestigious crop of Hawks from throughout history.

Your vote counts.

Brendan Edwards

A member of coach John Kennedy's "Kennedy's Commandos", Edwards epitomised the ethics and attitudes that the legendary coach demanded. Edwards is remembered for his devotion to personal fitness and hard work. Edwards won the club best and fairest in Kennedy's first year as head coach in 1960 but his career highlight came in the following year. Leading Hawthorn through a successful 1961 season, Edwards would play his 100th VFL match in the grand final against Footscray. Records of the game suggest that Edwards was head and shoulders above every other player afield, helping Hawthorn to their first premiership cup. Edwards was inducted into the Hawthorn Hall of Fame in 2011, a clear choice for the wing position.

Rodney Eade

Known for his dash and speed, Eade played in a golden era for Hawthorn. The wingman won four premierships for the club throughout his 229 games, placing him 20th on the all-time games list. Wearing the number 26 which was previously made famous by fellow Tasmanian Peter Hudson, Eade was also given the honour of captaining the Tasmanian team which competed at the bicentennial Australian football carnival in Adelaide in 1988.
