After preparing for eight games as underdogs, change is in the air for our VFL Women’s side. When they take on the bottom-placed Seaford Tigerettes in their Round 9 clash this Sunday at Box Hill City Oval from 3pm, they will hit the field as favourites.
Box Hill’s steady improvement has seen them defy pre-season expectations. Patrick Hill’s side have tested the best in VFL Women’s as their self-belief and game-plan implementation has grown more cohesive by the week, although a history-making maiden victory has eluded their grasp. The Tigerettes have struggled with injury in 2017 and are still yet to win a game.
It was the best of time and the worst of times last week for the Hawks. In the first half against the St Kilda Sharks, they played their most confident football yet as they locked down the attacking 2016 finalists while landing counter-attacking blows. However, all their good work fell to pieces in the third quarter and St Kilda tore them apart in an eight-goal-to-none second half.
All that remains now is to see which Box Hill takes the field against Seaford.
Final teams announced prior to the bounce.
