This Saturday from 2pm at RF Miles Reserve, our VFL Women’s side will take to the field for the last time in 2017.
In their inaugural voyage in VFLW, the Box Hill Hawks’ performances have exceeded all pre-season predictions. A young team made up of local footballers and the lowest number of AFLW players of any team in the competition has grown in stature week-by-week. The early season growing pains are now a distant memory with this young group of footballers taking it up to every side that crosses their path. They have recorded two wins and can finish 2017 in a blaze of glory if they defeat the Seaford Tigerettes in the final home and away round.
The Hawks claimed their history-making first win over Seaford at Box Hill City Oval back in Round 9. With the winless Tigerettes sitting last on the ladder, Box Hill will go into the match as favourites. However, the final round of the season is a notorious banana peel – teams with nothing to play for can upset those with everything on the line.
Box Hill will be near full-strength in Round 14 with Chantella Perera, Clare O’Donnell and Mel Kuys overcoming the injuries that kept them out of the close loss to Melbourne Uni last week. Shaylee Taylor has also been recalled, named on the bench for her first match since Round 8.
