Harry Morrison
“He finished with 29 disposals, so that’s two weeks in a row that Harry’s accumulated big numbers. It’s good for a young kid, he wants the footy and works really hard. He used the footy quite well this week and ended up with five tackles, so both his offensive and defensive game was really solid this week.” CN
Jonathan O’Rourke
“O’Rourke had 27 disposals, including 10 contested possessions which is great. He played a full game this week and ended up getting through it all okay. He predominately played inside and did a lot of the grunt work for us, which was great.”
Dallas Willsmore
“Dal had 26 disposals. He spent a bit more time on ball this week and really impressed with the way he went about it. He had a good combination between contested and uncontested possessions, and he set us up with a lot of our offensive drives through clever ball use.” CN
Ricky Henderson
“Hendo had 21 disposals and two goals. Like a lot of players, he was a bit quiet in the first half, but in the second half he was terrific. He played on the wing for the majority of the game and worked really hard – his GPS numbers were through the roof so that’s great to see.” CN
Kade Stewart
“Kade continues to work really hard around the ground. He loves the contested-type style of game, and he can also sneak forward and hit the scoreboard. He finished with 21 disposals and 1.2.” CN
James Cousins
“Cousins had 19 disposals, five tackles and 16 pressure acts. He’s a young kid that keeps developing each week, and we always know for sure that he’s going to provide really strong clearance game for us. He continues to get better.” CN
Taylor Duryea
“Duryea was a real leader for the backline. I thought the backline in particular was quite strong during the second term to keep us within striking distance, and much of that was thanks to Doc’s leadership. His defensive actions were terrific.” CN
Brendan Whitecross
“Whitey played a few roles on the day. He finished playing back because we had a few injuries in the last quarter, and he performed really well down there and played an important role for us. It’s great that he has got the versatility to play through all the lines.” CN
Kurt Heatherly
“It was Kurt’s first game back. He finished with 17 disposals in limited game time. He is really aggressive with the way he plays. He had quite a few spoils while playing undersized against [Ayce] Cordy who is a legitimate ruck size. Kurt finished with 27 pressure acts, which was a team high.” CN
Jack Fitzpatrick
“Fitzy competed really hard in the ruck for us against one of the premier ruckmen of the VFL competition in [Nick] Meese. Meese has been getting astronomical hit out numbers in the first few rounds, and Fitzy virtually broke even with him so that was a great result." CN
Ryan Schoenmakers
“Schoenmakers was competitive all day. He was really clean below his knees, and won some really critical contests for us. He finished with 14 disposals and kicked a goal, and he just continues to force a contest – if he doesn’t win it in the air he’ll definitely half it.”
Teia Miles
“Miles hurt his knee at the end of the third quarter which is really unfortunate for him. He will likely spend some time in rehab now so he’ll be missed. In terms of his performance, he was reasonably quiet in the first quarter before going forward and looking lively, kicking an important settling goal for us.” CN
Conor Glass
“Conor continues to learn and get better each week. He played back for much of the game, and was involved in a lot of marking contests. We’re seeing improvement and he’s learning quite a lot as he goes.” CN
Mitchell Lewis
“Mitch Lewis is another young, first year player that does some good things on the day. He took a couple of good grabs and kicked 1.1, so he’s getting his opportunities. Mitch finished with 11 disposals.
Ty Vickery
“Ty had 10 disposals and kicked 3.2. He was probably a bit stiff at times where we didn’t use the ball as well as we could and our forwards got burnt a little bit. He provided a real target for us and got us going early with two first quarter goals." CN
Marc Pittonet
“Pitto started in the ruck, but was just having a bit of trouble with soreness from last week. He played about half a game which was disappointing for him after a really strong start to the season." CN
Box Hill Development Squad
Luke Surman
“Surmo played in the Box Hill Development squad and is learning a new position at the moment. He played predominately ruck in the second half and played a role in getting the team back into the game.” Marco Bello
Oliver Hanrahan
"It was Ollie’s first official game for the club. He was lively as he always is, playing predominately forward. He’s still learning the craft but there is a lot to like at this early stage. As he continues to play more and more footy with this group, we’ll see his confidence grow and we’ll see him play some senior footy at some stage this year.” MB
