This week our new captain and favourite son Jarryd Roughead will make an emotional comeback to the football field. We thought we would have a look at what has happened since Roughy played his last game, and just how much he means to the Hawks fortunes.

The last game that Roughead played was the 2015 Grand Final against the West Coast Eagles. Roughead was hugely influential, helping the Hawks complete the threepeat with his 26 disposals, nine marks and one goal. His 26 possessions was his seventh highest career disposals tally.

Season 2015 was one of Roughead's better seasons. Throughout the year the superstar recorded four of his five career highest disposal counts, including two 30 possession games, as he made the most of receiving an up-tick in midfield time. This also created his career highest season disposal average of 19.33.

Save for 2011, when Roughead suffered an Achilles tendon rupture, the superstar full-forward has kicked at least 40 goals in each of his last nine seasons- a feat that is matched by only Lance Franklin across the same period.

Roughead returns for season 2017 now the fourth most experienced player on the Hawks list behind only Shaun Burgoyne, Luke Hodge and Grant Birchall.

As for goals kicked, Roughead is a clear leader of the current list. Having kicked 491 goals, the sixth most all-time for the Hawks, the next highest are Luke Breust and Cyril Rioli, who trail their captain having kicked 271 and 268 respectively.

With two more home and away games under his belt, Roughead will pass Hawthorn great Graham Arthur with having played the most games in the number two guernsey. Roughead will lead a notable peloton of fellow number twos including Bob Keddie, Chris Mew and Nick Holland.

This Friday Roughy will face Geelong no less than 503 days since the last match he played.

Geelong is one of only two clubs in the league that Roughead has a career losing record against. Of the 22 occasions in which Roughead has lined up against the Cats, the Hawks have won in only nine of those games.
The other club is Port Adelaide, who have edged the Hawks 8-7 in the 15 times Roughead has faced the South Australian side.

Despite this losing record, Roughead has fond memories of coming up against the boys from down the highway as they were of course the first team that he claimed his first premiership win from in 2008.

Geelong is also the club Roughead has come up against the most in his career, playing them 22 times out of his 231 games, measuring over a tenth of Roughy's career games.

The last time he played Geelong Roughy had an outstanding game. It was Round 20 2015 and he finished with 21 disposals, two goals and four tackles.

Roughead has won 27 of his 35 games at the University of Tasmania Stadium (formerly Aurora Stadium and York Park).
