Hawthorn superstar Luke Hodge will soon receive yet another boost to his résumé, after it was announced that he will be inducted as an AFL Life Member in March.

Hodge will be one of 11 new members. This number includes eight players and umpires who qualified automatically after having reached 300 total AFL games (including pre-season games) as an umpire, player or player and coach.

The group also includes umpires Dean Margetts, Matthew Nicholls and Simon Meredith as well as long-time club administrator John Birt, 1983 Brownlow Medallist Ross Glendinning and former AFL Commissioner Sam Mostyn.

With Hodge being joined by Gary Ablett Jnr, Matthew Boyd, Jarrad McVeigh and Leigh Montagna as other player inductees, the new instalment boasts an incredible combined tally of achievements, with eight premierships and 17 All Australian honours between them.

Hodge, who relinquished the Hawthorn captaincy to Jarryd Roughead last week, has achieved virtually all there is to achieve throughout his career.

Hodge's long list of achievements include captaining three of his four premierships, two Norm Smith medals, three All Australian honours and two club best and fairest awards.
