While Australian cricketing legend John Hastings did a fine job of coaching the Hawks in Friday’s T20 blockbuster against the Kangaroos, we’ve given Hawthorn Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson the task of distributing his votes to the Hawks that impressed on the field.

Luke Hodge was an obvious front-runner, following his classy knock of 40 runs from 28 deliveries.

It’s also understandable that Jack Gunston receives a mention; the forward-turned-wicket keeper maintained his safe hands, with two brilliant catches. A handy 26 runs from 15 balls also helped his cause.

Isaac Smith was as reliable as ever. The running wingman could stake his claim as a genuine medium-pace bowler, after he stole the prized wickets of opening pair Jarred Moore and Jack Ziebell, before contributing to Leigh Colbert’s dismissal with a fine catch at mid wicket.

Clarkson has also noted Grant Birchall and Cameron Bruce as top performers. Birchall was the Hawks’ second highest scorer with the bat, managing 31 from just 17 deliveries. Bruce made his impact in the second innings, clean bowling Lindsay Thomas before dismiss the prized wicket of Ricky Ponting with a brilliant catch in the deep.
