Hawthorn has suffered its second loss of the season, going down to the Crows by 24 points on Saturday afternoon.
Hawks midfielder Tom Mitchell says that despite the loss, the new-look Hawthorn team is finding more cohesion as the games go on.
“Getting cohesion between the playing group is something we’ve been working on over the pre-season. Obviously the games have started now, and while we haven’t been winning, we feel like every week the synergy is building.
“We’re looking forward to getting stuck into Gold Coast next week and hopefully it improves more then.”
The Hawks got out to an early lead, before a second half fade out proved costly.
“We started the game really well, we were on top in that first quarter,” says Mitchell.
“We probably had a few more chances to execute with shots on goal and we missed a few of those chances. Adelaide are a really good team and they managed to capitalise and really storm back in the second half.”
Mitchell was instrumental in keeping the Hawks within striking distance for much of the match, collecting 38 touches to go with his 37 from Round 1, but it is yet to get a win in the brown and gold.
“I would have loved to get a win on the board in the first few weeks but that hasn’t been the case. We’ll be doing everything we can this week to try and turn that around.”
