Hawthorn Football Club extends its congratulations to Vice President Professor Linda Kristjanson AO who was awarded the Order of Australia in Monday's Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Kristjanson was awarded the Order for her distinguished service to tertiary education through leadership and governance roles, strategic and innovative university reforms, contributions to cancer research and palliative care, and to women.
Kristjanson is the Vice-Chancellor & President of Swinburne University - educating 55,000 students in disciplines ranging from science, business, engineering and information technology to design and law.
She has served on a number of national company boards and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2012 Professor Kristjanson was recognised for her pioneering work in palliative care by the Bethlehem Griffith Research Foundation with a lifetime achievement award.
She first joined the Hawthorn Board in 2013 and was appointed Vice-President in February 2016.
Kristjanson has championed the club’s search for a new elite training and administration facility resulting in the purchase of a 28 hectare site in Dingley, and is a leader in Hawthorn's current quest to secure an AFLW licence from 2019.
The Order of Australia is the principal and most prestigious means of recognising outstanding members of the community at a national level.
Hawthorn will showcase an all female panel at 'Hawthorn in Business' for the first time, with Cathie Reid, Tracey Gaudry and Mia Freedman. Visit HFC Corporate Hospitality to purchase your tickets to this historic event.
