Hawthorn Football Club has secured the services of Scott Burns and Darren Glass, who will join the Hawks in assistant coaching roles.
Burns and Glass join Brett Ratten and Adem Yze in rounding out the club’s team of assistant coaches.
Since retiring from AFL in 2008, Burns has been an assistant coach at West Coast Eagles and most recently Collingwood Football Club, where he previously played 264 games across 14 seasons.
Burns has been Collingwood’s midfield coach since 2014 after returning to the Pies following a five-year stint coaching under John Worsfold at the Eagles.
Glass is currently working as a business strategy consultant in Western Australia, having attained a Masters of Business Administration at the completion of his playing career.
He retired from AFL football after 270 games for the Eagles between 2000-2014. Glass was a premiership player with the Eagles in 2006 and captained the club in 2008.

The 36-year-old also spent the 2015 season working part-time with Adelaide Football Club as a leadership coach.

“Both Scott and Darren captained their respective clubs during their playing careers and have exceptional leadership skills.
“Scott has a wealth of experience as an assistant coach across two respected clubs and we look forward to the new ideas and perspective he brings to our coaching group.
“Darren has followed a slightly different path since retiring from the game and has spent the last couple of years working in the business world.
“He’s got really strong values and communication skills and we think he will really thrive in the environment here at Hawthorn.
“We are really excited about what both Scott and Darren bring to the table and we look forward to them starting their roles at the Hawks.”
Burns and Glass will commence their roles with the Hawks for the start of the upcoming pre-season campaign.
