CHASING a third consecutive Big Bash League title, Perth Scorchers’ coach Justin Langer caught up with four-time premiership coach Alastair Clarkson at the Ricoh Centre on Thursday.
Langer’s Scorchers take on the Melbourne Stars at the MCG tonight, with the winner progressing to this year’s Big Bash League final.
The Australian cricket legend – who played 105 Tests for his country – spent three hours at the home of the Hawks.
Langer said the catch up with Clarkson was to talk about the big picture philosophies of coaching.
“I had a really good chance to catch up with him,” Langer said.
“It was like gold. I had three hours of gold with Alastair Clarkson. It was brilliant, mainly bigger picture stuff to be honest, we didn’t specifically talk about winning.
“We have very similar philosophies, personally and collectively as teams.
“It’s good to know we’ve all got the same problems and the same issues.”
The Scorchers will be hoping to follow in the Hawks’ footsteps for a third consecutive title, but first they’ll need to get over the Stars.
“Not everyone has got the same opportunity that we’ve got,” Langer said.
“They won three in a row and we’ve got an opportunity too, but we’ve got to get over the Stars.”
