AFTER three consecutive three-point wins, what will be in store at the selection table for this weekend’s match against GWS Giants?
The Hawks could opt to go with an unchanged line-up, especially if Bradley Hill recovers fully from a knock to the calf, as expected.
However, with plenty of players in strong form at VFL level for Box Hill Hawks – who are unbeaten so far in 2016 – could someone force their way into the side?
Key forward Ryan Schoenmakers could be a chance to return to face the Giants.
Schoenmakers played the first three games this season, but has missed the past two with a groin injury. However, he’s listed as a test for this week - and if fit could add some more marking power to the Hawks’ forward line.
At VFL level, a number of players impressed in Box Hill’s eight-point win against Coburg on Saturday.
Daniel Howe collected 29 disposals in the midfield to earn best on ground honours.
Not only did the second-year Hawk get his hands on the ball – he got in on the inside and the outside, finishing with eight clearances, eight tackles and eight inside 50s.
For the third week in a row, Dallas Willsmore also found plenty of the footy.
The yet-to-debut Hawk has had a stellar start to 2016 at VFL level, racking up tallies of 28, 26 and 27 disposals, to throw his name into the ring.
Like Howe, Angus Litherland also responded well after being omitted ahead of Round 5.
Litherland had played the first four matches of the season at AFL level, but returned to VFL level on the weekend to collect 23 disposals, five inside 50s and three rebound 50s.
Kaiden Brand was solid again in defence, if the Hawks’ opt for another tall defender to combat the Giants’ tall timber up forward, while draftees Kieran Lovell and Blake Hardwick have both been senior emergencies already this year and are showing promising signs for Box Hill Hawks.
