After coming out of retirement in 2007, Stuart Dew nominated himself for the National Draft where he was selected by the Hawks.

He had an injury troubled 2008 season, however he managed to play some good footy by the time of finals and he repaid the faith after a brilliant burst in the Grand Final when the result was still in the balance.
