The Changes
The Swans have opted for experience for tomorrow night’s clash at the SCG with the inclusion of small forward Ben McGlynn.
McGlynn was unlucky to miss last week’s match against Geelong, however he responded with 25 disposals, nine tackles and two goals for the NEAFL Swans.
He will replace Ben Rose as the only change for the Thursday night blockbuster.
What to expect
The Swans rebounded from a disappointing last-gasp loss to the Bulldogs a couple of weeks ago with a powerful showing against Geelong at Skilled Stadium last week, winning by 38 points.
Their midfield was on song with Luke Parker, Daniel Hannebery, Josh Kennedy, Tom Mitchell and Kieren Jack all dominating in the middle of the ground.
Their youngsters have also shown plenty this season, with Callum Mills rewarded for his 23-possession game with a NAB Rising Star nomination.
Dane Rampe showed his versatility in defence and was clearly the Swans’ best player last week with 23 disposals and a team-high eight rebound 50s.
Lance Franklin was a little quieter than normal with 15 disposals and one goal, but if the previous encounters between Hawthorn and Sydney are anything to go by, he will be up for the contest.
Players to watch
Tom Mitchell led the charge for the Swans midfield last week, collecting 33 disposals and a massive 21 contested possessions.
Mitchell is also capable of playing a tagging role, a dimension of his game which Swans coach John Longmire deployed on Sam Mitchell last time the two sides met.
Luke Parker has also been in great form for the Swans, and added to his stellar season with a 27-possession game last week.
