1. Jordan Lewis packed his own footy
Jarryd Roughead joined Jordan Lewis for his 250th match in Brisbane, and it appeared as though the Hawks’ stand-in skipper also packed his own footy for the trip.
It’s been said a few times already, but we’ll say it again. Lewis was incredible against the Lions.
With 42 disposals, nine clearances, six inside 50s and a goal, Lewis led from the front in an inspirational performance.
We pulled out 10 of his best performances in the lead-up to #Lewy250, but we might need to make a change after Saturday…

2. Hawks can flick the switch
Not for the first time this year, the Hawks managed to flick the switch when they needed to against the Lions, piling on nine goals in a final quarter burst.
It’s a similar story to the Hawks’ wins against Fremantle, Richmond and West Coast, where one exceptional strong term set up victory.
Little separated the Hawks and Lions early in the final term, with the Lions kicking two of the first three goals, before the Hawks ran away with the match.
3. McEvoy flying under the radar
It’s not often a 200-centimetre ruckman flies under the radar, but we reckon Ben McEvoy has done a pretty good job of it across the first 10 rounds.
The two-time premiership player has had a consistent start to 2016 and played an important role on the weekend.
With seven marks and three goals, McEvoy had an impact not just around the contest, but also around goal.
4. Indigenous stars shine in Indigenous Round
Shaun Burgoyne, Cyril Rioli and Bradley Hill each had a hand in designing the Hawks’ 2016 Indigenous jumper, and they all impressed in the win against the Lions.
Rioli kicked a bag of five goals from 19 disposals, Hill chimed in with two majors from 17 disposals, and Shaun Burgoyne impacted the contest across all three lines, finishing with 22 disposals and a goal.
The trio brought plenty of pressure when they didn’t have the ball, combining for 19 of Hawthorn’s 72 tackles.
5. #SpangTime cut short
Matt Spangher just can’t take a trick.
After four games building fitness in the VFL, the 2014 premiership star returned against the Lions for his first match since Round 17 last year – just his fifth since the 2014 grand final.
In the opening minutes, Spangher appeared to suffer an injury to his hamstring, and played no further part in the game.
We can only hope it’s a minor injury, and Spang is back out there sooner rather than later.
