HAWTHORN Football Club continues to make progress with its proposed training and administration facility at Dingley.
Last night the City of Kingston considered the club’s planning application, lodged late last year, and a Notice of Decision was granted for a planning permit and planning scheme amendment.
This is one of many steps in a thorough and comprehensive due diligence process which aims to assess whether the 28-hectare site is suitable to fulfil all the needs of the club for the next 100+ years.
The next six months will be crucial for completing a thorough investigation of the site, which includes formalising planning approvals, continuing environmental investigations and evaluating financial needs, and determining if the site is capable of housing a world-class training and administration facility that can attract the best players, coaches and staff.
Should the proposed facility proceed any potential development would be a five to 10-year process.
The club has until late 2016 to conduct further due diligence – under the conditional contract of sale – before making a final decision on the future of the site and proposed facility.
