If selected Ryan Schoenmakers will play his 100th game against Geelong on Friday night.
The 25-year-old was drafted as Hawthorn’s first round selection in the 2008 National Draft at pick number 16 from Norwood Western Australia.
The feel-good story of the Hawks in 2015, Schoenmakers overcame an ACL tear and battles with form to earn a spot in the Grand Final and play arguably his best game for the club.
His 2016 season has also unfortunately been injury interrupted, suffering a groin injury in Round 3 that has kept him on the sidelines for much of the year.
After some strong form for Box Hill, Ryan returned to the senior side for the final match of the home and away season against Collingwood.
With finals just around the corner, Schoenmakers said it was almost like starting a brand new season.
“I feel like I’ve started the season again. I’m feeling fresh and ready to go so I’m excited about (playing finals),” he told hawthornfc.com.au.
An important key position player for the Hawks, his height and overhead marking ability will be crucial as the team starts their finals campaign on Friday against the Cats.
