There is a new time trial king at Hawthorn.
After a five-year reign, Hawks running man Isaac Smith has relinquished his crown with draftee Finn Maginness his successor.
A stand-out at last year's draft camp in which he finished second in the 2km trial, Maginness' running ability was already well-renowned.
But the father-son recruit conceded that he surprised himself with his winning run.
"I had the boys pushing me all the way," Maginness said.
"I didn't get Isaac by much, I'm sure it will be on again next time."
