Roughead was found guilty of tripping Melbourne’s Dom Tyson and given 80 demerit points for the incident under MRP rules.
However, with 64.06 carry-over points from a two-week suspension earlier this year, Roughead’s penalty was increased to 144.06 points and a one-match ban.
Even if he accepts the early plea, the sanction will remain at one week.
The 25 per cent reduction would reduce his points to 108.05 and a one-match suspension.
Roughead was reported on the spot by the officiating umpire on Saturday for tripping Tyson during the second quarter of Hawthorn’s 50-point win over the Demons.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point), drawing a total of four activation points and resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence.
The Hawks and Roughead have until 11am on Tuesday to decide whether to accept or challenge the charge.
