HAWTHORN appear set to welcome back key forward Jarryd Roughead for Sunday’s clash with GWS at the MCG after the Coleman Medallist was named in an extended squad.
Roughead is joined by defenders Kyle Cheney and Angus Litherland and young key forward Tim O’Brien as possible inclusions for the twilight clash.
But the Hawks have lost ruckman Ben McEvoy to injury, after he failed to recover from a corked hamstring.
McEvoy was subbed out at half time of last Saturday night’s loss to Port Adelaide after suffering the injury in the opening minutes of the game despite trying to play on.
That means the ruck load will be shouldered by veteran David Hale and young ruckman Jonathon Ceglar.
Liam Shiels and Brad Sewell appear set to play in their second matches after returning from injury last weekend, while defender Ryan Schoenmakers will again play a key role in defence in the absence of the injured Josh Gibson and Brian Lake.
The Hawks will trim the 25-man squad to the final 22 on Friday, which will be released on hawthornfc.com.au at 5pm.
