The Premiership Cup Tour kicked off in Brisbane and Darwin last weekend seeing thousands of Hawks members and supporters flock to open events in each city for their chance to get their photo with the 2013 and 2014 cups in celebration of back-to-back premierships.
Due to the Club’s long standing connection with the Northern Territory, in particular the Katherine Region, the cups paid a very special visit to our affiliate team, the Big River Hawks prior to their match against Waratah Football Club at TIO Stadium.
Formed in 2010, the Big River Hawks is an under 18 side established for young men in Katherine and surrounding areas who need to earn their spot through positive involvement in the community. Hundreds of spectators had the opportunity to get their hands on the cups as they enjoyed watching the game.
But it wasn’t all business for the cups on their trip up North, enjoying some down time that saw them visit Crocosaurus Cove to stare danger in the eyes by getting up close and personal with the inquisitive crocodiles living in the park.
It capped off a great trip to Darwin, with the cups now looking forward to travelling the country and meeting plenty more supporters along the way.
