KEVIN Sheedy has turned to a slightly built defender to help curb the influence of Hawthorn's talls when the Giants take on Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Saturday.
Defender Tim Golds is one of four inclusions for Greater Western Sydney, but is the only tall of the four.
Golds is a 191cm and 81kgs defender who has played just two senior games in his short career. This will be his first game for season 2013.
With Hawthorn having four tall options in its forward line, the Giants will be hard pressed to find suitable match ups for each.
Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, David Hale and Jack Gunston have all been named for the Hawks.
In an ideal world, Golds would find his way onto Gunston, who plays as the third tall who can push up onto the wing but he could be forced to spend time on one of Franklin, Roughead or Hale or, all three at various stages of the game.
The quartet kicked 13 goals between them last week against Sydney.
Interestingly, the Giants have opted not to name Bret Thornton as a mature body capable of playing both forward and back.
The former Blue has spent time as his former side’s full back and full forward.
Sheedy has opted to back in his youngsters.
