HAWTHORN Captain Luke Hodge is free to play against West Coast on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.

The Hawks skipper was cleared by the Match Review Panel on Monday for his collision with Carlton Captain, Marc Murphy.

The incident, which occurred in the second quarter of Friday night’s match at Etihad Stadium left Murphy with a fractured cheekbone, and could sideline him for a month.

Hodge has no case to answer for the incident, however, with the Match Review Panel contending he had no other realistic way to contest the footy.

For a separate incident, Hodge can accept a reprimand after making high contact with a bump on Carlton defender Lachie Henderson.

He has been charged with rough conduct but should he take an early plea and accept a reprimand, he is free to take on the Eagles on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.

Based on a medical report supplied by Carlton Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).

That is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. Given he has no existing good or bad record, however, should he take an early plea, it would reduce the sanction to a reprimand and 93.75 carry over points.

Teammate Jarryd Roughead has also been cleared of any wrongdoing after a collision with Kade Simpson.

The Match Review Panel judged the collision as having no significant high contact.
