HAWTHORN superstar Lance Franklin declares he is ready for the Grand Final next Saturday despite an injury scare during last night’s Preliminary Final win over Geelong.
Franklin crashed into teammate David Hale in the first quarter as he attempted to lay a tackle and was taken into the rooms to be assessed.
He was cleared to return to the field soon after by club doctors, however, and played out the game with his elbow strapped.
The Hawks star says there is no concern, he is already ready to play in Saturday’s decider.
“I don’t think anyone feels any injuries after winning a prelim and getting into a Grand Final,” he told media at the Ricoh Centre on Saturday.
“It was an unbelievable experience last night and something I’ll never forget.”
The Hawks were 20 points down at the final change but given the history between the two sides, there was always going to be another chapter written in the history that is Hawthorn and Geelong matches.
Franklin said while it is a moment he’ll never forget, the biggest prize is still on offer.
“We knew we had to play four quarters to beat them and to be 20 points down coming into the last quarter, to get up and win like that was a super effort by the boys,” he said.
“It was a proud moment for our footy club. It was something we wanted to win, but now we need to move on and look forward to playing Freo or the Swans next week.
“It was just a hurdle we had to overcome.”
