The Salvation Army assists over one million Australians in crisis each year – that’s one in every 20 Australians or one person every 30 seconds.
Each week the Salvos provide more than 100,000 meals, 5,000 food vouchers and over 2,000 beds for people in need, as well as assisting around 500 Australians addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling.
It is this vital work The Salvation Army has been doing over the past 130 years that makes Hawthorn Football Club proud to support The Salvos as its match-day charity in Round 7.
This year, the Salvos need Australia’s support to raise $79 million dollars to keep their 600 social programs and services running.
Salvation Army volunteers will be rattling tins on the MCG concourse in the lead-up to this Saturday night’s match against Sydney as part of its annual Red Shield Appeal. Hawthorn encourages its supporters and members to dig deep and give generously to the Appeal.
Donations can also be made online at salvationarmy.org.au or call 13 SALVOS (13 72 58).

The official Red Shield Appeal doorknock weekend will be held 25-26 May. You may see Salvos volunteers out in force throughout the weekend so please give generously.
