HAWTHORN currently has only two players eligible to become free agents in 2014.

In an official list released by the AFL this week, dual premiership stars Sam Mitchell and Brad Sewell are the only players set to come out of contract at the end of next season and qualify for free agency.

Mitchell agreed to terms earlier this year to play on in 2014 and after another outstanding season in which he was named All Australian and placed third in the Club’s best and fairest, is showing no signs of slowing down.

Sewell had an indifferent season in which he battled for form in parts but proved a valuable component of the midfield throughout the finals series and a key player in the Club’s premiership success in 2013.

Captain Luke Hodge would have qualified for free agency at the end of next season but signed a contract extension until the end of 2015 on Monday.

The Hawks lost premiership players Lance Franklin and Xavier Ellis to free agency in 2013, while Brent Guerra, Michael Osborne and Max Bailey retired.
