Dual premiership defender Brent Guerra will remain at the Ricoh Centre in a coaching capacity on a part-time basis.

Having announced his retirement after the Hawks’ 2013 premiership win, Guerra will take on a part-time development coaching role with the Club in 2014.

Guerra recently completed a Level 2 coaching accreditation course and a diploma of management, and has been working with TAC Cup side Oakleigh Chargers over the past few years.

Hawthorn Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson welcomed Guerra’s appointment.

“As a senior player ‘Goo’ demonstrated a talent in teaching and developing many of our younger players, and he will make an excellent addition to our coaching team,” Clarkson said.

“His AFL experience and knowledge of the modern game will be invaluable to the younger players under his tutelage,” he said.

Guerra was recruited to the Club in 2006 after stints at Port Adelaide and St Kilda, and played a total of 255 AFL games (159 Hawthorn, 65 Port Adelaide, 31 St Kilda) in a career spanning 14 years (eight with the Hawks).

He will commence duties in late November.
