Former Hawthorn Assistant Coach Leon Cameron will be in the opposition coaching box when the Hawks take on the Giants at Aurora Stadium on Saturday.
Cameron departed Hawthorn at the end of last season to take up a role as a senior assistant coach with the Giants and coach Kevin Sheedy’s right-hand man.
He will be the senior coach of Greater Western Sydney in 2014.
Cameron was an assistant at the Hawks since 2011, after being employed by the Club at the end of the 2010 season.
He formed a close relationship with the players and coaches at the Club and was a crucial member of the Hawthorn coaching panel.
The Greater Western Sydney assistant will have an intimate knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of the Hawthorn players and will be looking to impart his opposition intelligence on the Giants players.
Game plans vary from year to year, however, so any knowledge he had of Alastair Clarkson’s game style will have been tweaked since his departure to ensure the Hawks are once again a force in 2013.
As many coaches say, if you don’t change your game plane or style from year to year, the game passes you by.
That’s exactly what the Hawks have done since Cameron departed at the end of 2012.
