HAWTHORN finalised its 2014 playing list on Wednesday morning by selecting four players in the AFL Rookie Draft.

The Club welcomed back rookie Derick Wanganeen, while also picking up Dallas Willsmore, Zac Webster and Ben Ross.

Bio: 
Tall forward who presents strongly on the lead and has clean hands. Is a reliable set shot for goal on his preferred left foot and can kick goals from outside 50. Knows where to lead and protects the space well.

Derick Wanganeen

Bio: 
Wanganeen spent three seasons on the Club’s rookie list before being cut last month. Wanganeen edged toward a senior debut in 2012, named an emergency twice. He was a member of Box Hill’s 2013 Premiership side and was a solid contributor for the Club’s VFL affiliate throughout the year. Played mostly as a forward, Wanganeen was moved to defence mid-way through 2013 where he impressed as a running half back with his foot skills and link-up ability.

Bio: 
Medium forward with an excellent work rate and competitive will. Attacks the football at every opportunity in the contested situation while also providing good run and carry on the outside. Displays clean hands and makes smart decisions with his disposal by hand or foot.

Ben Ross

Bio: 
Former North Melbourne player Ben Ross was picked up by the Kangaroos in 2007, playing 14 games before being delisted at the end of 2011. He then joined Werribee in the VFL where he was outstanding in 2012, winning the J. J Liston Trophy as the fairest and best player in the VFL that year.  He can play up forward and in the midfield.
