Hawks congratulate Simpson on senior role
Hawthorn Football Club would like to congratulate former Assistant Coach Adam Simpson on his appointment as Coach of West Coast Eagles.
Simpson joined the Hawks in September 2009 after a decorated 306-game playing career with North Melbourne.
In farewelling Simpson, Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson wished him well and thanked him for his time at the Club.
“In his four years at Hawthorn, Adam has fostered a terrific relationship with the playing group and displayed a high level of excellence across all facets of his coaching duties,” Clarkson said.
“He is well-placed for the transition into senior coaching, which is thoroughly deserved on the back of an impressive coaching apprenticeship and a distinguished playing career.
"I would like to thank him for his contribution to Hawthorn Football Club and wish Adam and his wife Nicky, and their children Milla, Allie, Owen and Elsa well."
After announcing his retirement in July 2009, Simpson moved into a coaching role at the Hawks in September that year. He was responsible for stoppages from 2010-2012 and supervised the forward line this season.
Simpson made his AFL debut for North Melbourne in 1995 and enjoyed a decorated career which included two premierships (1996, 1999), a best and fairest (2002), All Australian selection (2002) and was captain of the club from 2004-2009.
